Vancouver Japanese Language School
475 Alexander Street
Vancouver, British Columbia

The original structure was built in 1928 and served as a central meeting place and school for the Japanese Canadian community. During the war the building was closed down. In 1952 the building was returned to the Japanese Canadian community and reopened. The adjacent property was purchased and a new building with enlarged facilities was constructed. The front façade, however, was preserved. The new language school officially opened in 2000.
