The original Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre was located on Wynford Drive and was the first major facility built by the Japanese Canadian community after the war. With growing demands on the space, the cultural centre purchased an existing building. After major renovations for Phase One were completed, the new centre, which has five times more space, was officially opened in 1999.
Housed within the building is Gendai Gallery, a nursery centre, a martial arts dojo, the Canadian Nikkei Heritage Hall and the offices of Nikkei Voice.
