Taiko – Japanese Drums

Taiko groups across Canada have gained tremendous popularity in the wider Canadian community because of the unique blend of rhythms and sounds of this traditional art form of Japanese drumming. Most groups craft their taiko drums by hand and create their own music arrangements to complement traditional taiko music pieces.

Taiko groups are asked to perform at high profile public events, festivals, charity and fund-raising activities, cultural centres and private functions. Each group has its own unique style of presentation and music. With increasing popularity in this art form, new groups are always emerging.
