Keiko Margaret Lyons
Margaret Lyons (Inouye), a nisei, was born in Mission, British Columbia in 1923. She grew up on a berry farm, speaking Japanese at home and excelling in English at school. During the war, her father remained in Hope and the rest of the family relocated to a Manitoba sugar beet farm. Margaret and her sister worked as domestics in Winnipeg.
In 1949, she married Edward Lyons and moved to London, England. She worked as a radio producer for the BBC until returning to Canada in 1960 and was hired by CBC. Before retiring as Vice-president of English Radio, she helped create such shows as Morningside and As It Happens. Margaret resides in Toronto, Ontario.
