Lori Fung



Lori Fung was born in Vancouver in 1963 and made history by winning the first gold medal ever awarded in rhythmic gymnastics at the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles. Lori, who is of Japanese and Chinese ancestry, was successful winning seven Canadian all-round titles and at the international level has been a 4 time 4-Continents Gold Medalist. Retired from competition in 1988, Lori continues to teach rhythmic gymnastics and train young athletes. She is the Canadian national team coach and has been coach for other national teams. In the movie “Cat Woman” Lori appeared as an aerial ballerina with Halle Berry. For her achievements, she has received various recognitions including the Order of Canada, Order of British Columbia and inducted in the Canadian Sports Hall of Fame.
