Renewal - Tony T. Tamayose
Tony, a nisei, was born in Lethbridge,Alberta, but grew up in Picture Butte. His father worked on the railroad and coal mine in Coaldale and then became a farmer. Tony had extensive experience with the federal public service and was seconded in 1988 from the federal Department of Communications to become the National Administrator for the NAJC, responsible for the administration of the redress implementation program. From 1989 to 2002, Tony was the Executive Director and later Assistant to the Board for the Japanese Canadian Redress Foundation. Tony’s initial introduction to the Japanese Canadian organization was through redress; he has since been involved locally and nationally. He is a resident of Coquitlam, B.C.
