WWII Experience - Internment

The Japanese Canadians were given 24 and 48 hours notice by the RCMP to vacate their homes, before being sent to "clearing sites" such as Hastings Park where they were detained until internment camps were prepared.

By November 1942 nearly 22,000 people were forced from their homes and sent to various internment projects outside the protected area.
